A very successful Autumn Community Clean-Up was held on Sunday 4th October 2020, when two dozen public-spirited townsfolk and Community Councillors attended the event.
A number of central areas of the town were targeted along with the Nipknowes/Vertish areas of the West End. As a result of two hours of work, 32 black bags along with a petrol can, a broken couch and sheets of Upvc were taken to the recycling centre. The main objects of litter were disposable masks and gloves, a sign of the times that we now live in.
The Community Clean-Up will become a bi-annual event. Just a couple of hours at each event can make such a difference to the litter in our town.
Hawick is now a little bit tidier and we would ask that townsfolk think before dropping their litter and refrain from fly-tipping of larger items.
