The A7 Action Group was founded in March 1990. The Group is a cross-border Group covering Scottish Borders Council and Dumfries & Galloway Council areas.
The members are made up of representatives along the length of the A7, e.g. Police Scotland, Transport Scotland, Bear Scotland, and a Councillor from each area. The Group meets 3-4 times per year in rotation at Hawick, Selkirk, and Langholm. Hawick Community Council has two representatives attending the meetings of this Group.
In particular, and relating to the community of Hawick, is the issue of the Dunk Corner and associated areas of Parkdaill and Martins Bridge. Representations from locally elected Councillors, members of the Community Council and the A7 Action Group itself have been made over several years to outside agencies such as Transport Scotland, Sustrans, Amey and/or Bear Scotland. The identified issues include speed restrictions, the width of pavement at the Dunk Corner, water flow from the steep banking and safety of passengers using buses at Parkdaill.
The Group regularly reports to Hawick Community Council Meetings and reported information can be found under Minutes
