The plans for the 2021 Christmas event have been made by the Community Council and are as follows – the event, which includes the official switch-on of the lights on the Christmas tree at Trinity Gardens will take place at 4.00 pm on Saturday, 4th December 2021. At that time Santa will be at the Horse handing out selection boxes to all children up to Primary 7 who attend the event

The Community Council has set up collection points for anyone who may wish to donate selection boxes at Johnstons of Elgin and also The Bourtree (Wetherspoons) in Bourtree Place.  Any donations from members of the public and businesses in the town will be gratefully received.  It is hoped that at The Bourtree there will also be a collection bucket for those who wish to make a cash donation as opposed to bringing along actual selection boxes and the staff there will then make purchases with the funds available.  Any superfluous selection boxes will then be distributed to care homes and the community hospital dependent on the numbers available.

Thank you in advance for your donations which will assist with this project

There will also be that day a Christmas market held in Oliver Place and part of Oliver Crescent (adjacent to the Horse monument) and there are 37 stallholders already booked to participate. The market will be open between the hours of 10 am and 4pm and there will be a wide variety of arts, crafts and gifts available

The erection and dismantling of the gazebos for the market is a huge undertaking and we would be grateful if anyone could come along at 6.30 am and 4.00 pm to assist with this work.

We also plan to provide entertainment throughout the day with various local groups and bands attending. There will also be a street collection organized for the event
Road closures have already been approved and no parking bollards in the area will be set up on the Friday evening.
