Hawick Community Council considered there was a need for a life-saving defibrillator within easy 24-hour access for public use located within the centre of the town, a need which until now had not been available. A number of existing units are currently within business premises and therefore not accessible to everyone when those premises are closed.
The Community Council has been gifted a defibrillator and has purchased a heated cabinet for its storage. The unit has now been installed and is located at the bottom of the Cross Wynd, just off the High Street, thus giving the public access centrally to a life-saving device, should it be needed.
